Sport and other extracurricular activities are important aspects in developing a well-rounded, balanced young person. At Reddam we strive to expose our students to a large variety of activities that can add to their physical, social and emotional well-being.
This is achieved through a wide range of choice in the afternoon sport and cultural activities as well as the opportunities provided in the academy periods. We encourage each student to be included in at least one extra-curricular activity in the afternoon per term. These activities are also recognised for credit in the subjects of Life Orientation. Where possible all our students who excel are sent through to provincial trials – this again exposes them to more competition and gives students the opportunity to be awarded half, full or honours colours.
The academy period is set aside to allow students to either receive specialised coaching in a particular sport or to experience an activity for which they would not normally have time. The activities on offer are listed here:
